Meet the founders. 🤓
Maximilian Zeyda & Edwin Sauer
"Believe in your vision!"
Mission: Clypp is the company's own operating system for recording and communicating important work processes. With Clypp, every employee can record their screen or webcam, edit the recording and share the finished documentation with colleagues or customers.
Max: We founded our company after completing our studies right at the beginning of the covid 19 pandemic in Germany. We saw that the prompt introduction of the remote work obligation presented many companies with major challenges in the fields of learning and knowledge management, which they were unable to solve on their own. Through various consulting projects, it quickly became clear to us that there was no tool that could share internal company information asynchronously as in an email and at the same time as vividly as in a zoom call. With Clypp, we set out to close this gap and establish ourselves as an essential productivity and information platform in medium and large companies.
🔝 List up to 3 of your greatest achievements to date.
Edwin:
➡️ Our first major success - and at the same time, the birth of the Clypp product - was winning the Hubitation Contest in the fall of 2020. The organizer was the Nassauische Heimstätte Wohnstadt group, one of the largest housing companies in Germany. As the only non-PropTech among the participating startups, we succeeded with our MVP and won a paid pilot project.
➡️ Our second success was that we were able to win Nürnberger Versicherung as a customer with nationwide reach. Since Clypp places great emphasis on data protection and security, it is a great acknowledgement for us that even large insurers trust in Clypp.
➡️ Our third success is definitely our first external investment through allygatr. After 2 years of bootstrapping we have gained experienced entrepreneurs as investors, Ben and Thomas, who know the HR industry very well and believe in our team and vision.
Max: We are driven by the need to support our customers every day, so that they can get more out of their work processes and will communicate better, both to their employees and to customers. To achieve this, we work in an extremely customer-oriented manner, set up regular feedback calls and prioritize our roadmap accordingly. We see the acknowledgement of our work especially when users call us to tell us their ideas for improving the platform and to praise the latest features.
💡 The most important lesson you have learned so far?
Edwin: Don't give up! It sounds so obvious, but in my opinion, a good (founding) team stands out above all when it believes in its vision and doesn't let itself be thrown off track by rejections from investors or customers. That happens every now and then anyway! The most important thing is to take in feedback, process it constructively and continue with the new insights.
💪 Your biggest challenge so far in founding a startup?
Max:: Definitely finding the product-market fit. Building a product is easy, but building a product that the market needs right now is very difficult. Finding the balance between customer feedback and long-term product vision is the key task for founders and the product team. This challenge will always remain because the market environment and customer needs can change quickly. We saw this strongly during the recent covid 19 pandemic.
🎉 What was the best part of founding a startup for you?
Edwin: Of course, it's great to be able to solve a problem that we ourselves consider enormously important, and to be able to do so in a team we trust and enjoy working in.
Max: For us, it is enormously important to always be close to the customer and to understand the users' needs and problems. With this strategy, we have worked out our USPs and at the same time were able to transfer the continuous feedback into product development. This is crucial, especially in the initial phase, in order to succeed in competitive markets.
🤝 Why did you join allygatr?
Edwin: After we were able to make sales and win customers ("traction") in our early phase, the main task now is to build structures in product development and sales that will enable us to grow quickly. In Allygatr, we have found the best partner to achieve this in our eyes.
🐊 How did you find out about allygatr?
Max: I had been networking with Thomas on Linkedin for a while and also read posts about allygatr quite often. When we were fundraising, I approached Thomas directly and then everything went very quickly in the right direction.
✌️ Your favorite tool that you couldn't live without - except Clypp?
Edwin: At the moment, it's clearly Trello. Whether in product development, marketing or sales: an intuitive project management tool like Trello enables us to transparently distribute tasks and display progress. This is enormously important for us to maintain an overview - especially in this rapid growth phase.
